A question was raised about bicycling and the PCT.  Bicycles aren't
allowed on the trail, and aren't allowed in most CA wilderness areas. 
But you might be interested in a book called "The Pacific Crest Bicycle
Trail" which lays out a bike route that parallels the entire PCT, using
