[pct-l] crossing the border

As far as the border being patrolled it is unlikely there is going to be any officious official to welcome any of us at the actual border. We might be spotted once we reach Manning. If they don't like us they may 'deport us,' ie take us back to the border and tell us not to come back.
About returning to the US: I have a friend who regularly crosses the Border at Blaine, WA. He says all that is needed for US citizens to reenter is a driving license. The INS has computers to look you up. People crossing on public transit, such as Greyhound, or Amtrak, are scrutinised more thoroughly. If you are a citizen they can't keep you out forever. But to be on the safe side, I would recommend pasport or birth certificate. If there is another attack who knows what will change at the border?

realistically, what is it used for? Though I filed the
paperwork for it (who wants to take a chance post
9/11?), just curious if the paperwork is actually
needed in Manning Park? Has security increased
dramatically on the Canadian side of the border since
9/11? Are other places (Waterton-Glaicer comes to
mind) that share a common border being patrolled much?

Just curious what the events of recent months have
done to parks that share a common border, if anything.
