I've observed that the more sunlight
a stand of poison oak receives, the
smaller the leaves grow, and hence it
is harder to identify, and can be confused
with non-volatile shrubs. A good example
of this sunlit and not-easily identified oak
grows right along the trail in upper long canyon,
just before you reach the pines of Mt. Laguna.
WATCH OUT !!!!!
