[pct-l] RE: Bear Resistant Cannisters

Jim,
If you practice stealth camping techniques (away from popular areas, don't cook
in camp, etc.) and are generally intelligent about food storage, you can save
some weigh by not worrying about capacity.
The ranger doesn't ask to see all your food. She or he asks to see your bear
canister. Get the smallest, lightest one, pack it full, and be smart about the
overflow.
I'm carrying the small Bearkikade where I have to. Then I don't have to worry
about rangers, bears, syncing my distances to bear boxes, or the pain of
expertly packing a bear canister. (On that last point, I know I'm passing up
the opportunity to turn the canister into a black hole of incredibly dense
material, something some people have made an art form. Oh well...)

                 Howdy Folks!

I am trying to find bear resistant cannisters. The Garcia
Machine is not an option, as I need MUCH more carrying capacity.
