[pct-l] RE: Another Australian aiming for 2002

WOOHOO!!! Nice to see an Aussie coming to experience the PCT. I hope to
meet up with ya sometime on the trail.

A couple of options for you LAX to SD travel. If you are unable to find
someone to hitch a ride with, (more about that in a bit) I would personally
take the train. It is not too bad getting from LAX to Union station in LA.
The San Diegian train will get you to downtown SD. SD has some GREAT public
transportation to get you right to Campo or even Lake Morena. Speaking of
Lake Morena, If you can time your arrival near the same time of the Annual
kick off at Lake Morena, Im SURE you can find someone travelling that
direction that can give you a ride from LAX to Lake Morena. If I am going
to the kick off (too be determined yet) I'll gladly provide a ride for ya.
Its time to return some favors to the Aussies that helped me plan my
Australia trip.

Depending on how far you need to drop packages, a car may or may not be
useful. If the distances are far, California distance and traffic may make
ya decide to head back to Sydney.

Good luck on the trail.

Subject: [pct-l] Another Australian aiming for 2002

Hi

Long time lurker, first time poster. This list is an excellent resource for
remote planners such as myself. It seems if I have a question, it has
already been answered or will be in a day or two, which is good

My current plans are to start the PCT either late April or late May,
depending on work committments (and snow).

And so a couple of questions.

Whats an easy way to get from Los Angeles airport to San Diego ?
And how long would it take ?
I'm guessing it's from airport to LA bus depot then bus, wasting a day.
My plans are to resupply as I go, but I will have to do a few days in SD to
get a parcel or two out and setup my drift box.

I have thought about hiring a car for a day or two and hand delivering some
parcels.

thanks in advance
phil
