[pct-l] question..

The right web page for the PCT is
http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/current/PlotSWC This shows the snowpack
versus normal, dry and wet years. Observe that, so far, 2002 looks like a
wet year. However, one really can't tell how much the snowpack will be until
March and can't tell how it will affect thruhiking until we see how it
melts.

I just found a map that shows the snowpack for the western states:
ftp://ftp.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/support/water/westwide/snowpack/wy2002/snow0201.

This looks like a better year to hike the CDT than the PCT. Yeh, I know this
is all preliminary. The real map is the one they produce in April or May.
