If this is an El Nino year watch out.  I meet a guy on
the trail who got caught in a storm on San Gorgonio
that dumped 16 inches of snow with about 14 others in
May 1998.  He then went to Canada and headed south,
but snow in WA eventually pushed him off the trail.

I grew up in Banning, 20 west of the PCT on I-10, and
'98 was one heck of a year for rain and snow.  Went
hiking in early July and there was still plenty of
snow on Mt San Gorgonio.
