[pct-l] Re: Bear Cannister & Food

This is in response to Kurt's email, but I thought I should post it if
others are interested. (Gotta increase those website hits :))

I checked our web page for food. I think most everything I could say is on
that page. http://home.pacbell.net/kdpo/food.htm

We are preparing food for the CDT now. We have found a dehydrated chili that
we like and we may try to purchase a lot of it. We have several versions of
pastas (fideo and angel hair) and grains (bulgur, couscous) where the
cooking time is under 10 minutes. The only other thing I could add is that
we started eating pop tarts for snacks later in our PCT trek.

When I said I stuffed the canister, I mean I really leaned on it with all my
weight to stuff it in.

We have used this menu for many shorter trips. It seems to work okay for up
to 14 day trips. After that we needed to add all the extras to increase
calories (as noted on the web page). Guess we had burned off the stores of
fat after that time period.
