[pct-l] Re: more on backcountry water treatment



A former coworker of mine was a medic in the marines during desert storm
and he said they used single use "straws" that filtered the water as you
drank. I would guess they would be expensive and bulky (for long term
use) but may be handy for sticking in a stock tank or other slimy water
hole where you don't want to gunk up your filter or can't stomach using
just a chemical treatment without filtering. Does anyone have experience
with these?
I'm not sure if they are even available for nonmilitary use.
