I appears that the one thing that Brian HAS done is walk three times as far
in a single year as ANY of us. I suspect that this may have an effect on
those who view their self-worth in terms of how far they walked.

Although Brian's accomplishment is awesome I salute him most for doing what
he wanted to do. 

My? My goal, 12 years ago was to walk between Whitney Portal and Lake Tahoe
before I died. This year I completed it. No associated press, no NY times,
not even a mention on TV. Boo, hoo. 

But then I have a girl. She's very smart, very pretty, and will backpack. I
wonder if Brian envys me.
