[pct-l] Oregon Maps

I'm in the process of producing custom topo maps of
the entire PCT. I am not aware of a complete map set
customized for the entire PCT, except from the guide
books. They provide excellent information about the
trail, but the maps are too small to use for
orienteering and are reproduced with very poor
quality. I'm producing a custom set of topographic
maps which will include waypoint and mileage
annotations, plus campsite, shelter, resupply, Post
Office, and overnight town stop opportunities. I've
traced the correct PCT route, and have included
popular side trip routes and popular alternate routes.
Additionally, a route profile and statistics such as
gross elevation gain/loss and average grade are
included on each map. Right now, I've completed and
posted online the entire state of Oregon. Washington
will be online before I leave to finish my PCT hike
(Fish Lake to Manning Park) Wednesday, 15 August.
Some southern California maps are online, but are of
poor quality and must be corrected and updated. I'll
finish California when I return from the Trail in
October. Feel free to view or download any or all
that you may be able to use from my website at
"http://www.hikertrash.net/maps.htm". The maps are
produced in 1:50,000 scale, and each map will cover a
trail segment of about twelve to fifteen miles. Each
map image is a JPEG image approximately 300KBytes in
size, and are formatted to print on any inkjet or
laser printer using 8.5" x 14" paper. If you discover
any inaccuracies, or have any comments or suggestions
for improvements, please let me know.
