After a long quiet spell in which I unfortunately did not get to go on =
any great adventure, I am back. I wanted to let any of you interested =
know of the write up on www.hikethewild.com about the book America's =
National Scenic Trails by Kathleen Ann Cordes with photos by Jane =
Lammers. The book covers the eight designated scenic trails from the PCT =
to the Florida National Scenic Trail. If you can't get out on the trail =
this summer this book makes a great armchair hike! Links are provided if =
you are interested in picking up a copy.

On a different note, does anyone know if bear canisters are required in =
Big Bend? I will be doing some backcountry exploring there after it =
cools down this fall. I know bears are making a come back there, but I =
need to do some research on their bear management policies.
