Interesting discussion, Tom.  Reminds me of a climb of Cirque Peak near
Langley that husband & I did some years back - we climbed in total fog and
navigated solely by compass bearing.  A GPS would definitely have helped
(and of course, we were too dumb to abort the trip & come back another day
;-) !   'Twas an eerie experience and I believe we were blessed both by a
little skill in navigation and a lot of luck...

Christine (who is still too cheap to buy a GPS)
