Troubador, thanks for sharing your journal entry.  I heard the story of 
Yosemite John before and had to laugh hearing it again.

I had also heard how cantankerous Jack could be and decided I had to stay 
there.  It was a great visit, the drive to the store, his car, his cussing 
and his philosophies.  We spend quite a bit a time with Jack and then 
retreated to the garage for the night.  The next morning we got up at light 
and Jack came out of the house to see us off.  We were in a bit of hurry to 
cross the Mojave before it got too hot and quickly said our good byes.  

Walking the road in the early morning the light was right and I started 
taking some photos of the desert and Americana when I remembered that I 
didn't get a photo of Jack.  I almost turned around, but I had already walked 
twenty minutes or so and didn't want to lose the time.  

I felt bad I didn't get Jack's picture at the time and have thought of him 
often, telling the stories to others.  %$^*#*&  Jack!
