Please clarify the current status regarding bear canisters along the JMT.
What are the actual regulations? How are they being interpreted? Are 
thru-hikers governed by the same regulations as non-thru hikers, and are they 
being treated differently? What is the actual experience of ranger 
enforcement with violations in the backcountry?
