[pct-l] Seeking Advice on PCT footwear

One and all,

>>> One more thing to add to the footwear discussion...

Which ever footwear you chose, just be sure you don't leave home without
knowing how to best fix your feet. There will be time when even when you
have done everything right, you will blister. In my book I quote ultrarunner
Marv Skagerberg as he candidly warns "Caveat pedis, or let the toes beware.
I have completely solved the blister problem 12 times by perfecting various
methods that allow me to run for 24 hours and up, blister free. However the
next time out with the exact same method, I have plenty of blisters." Marvin
has put more miles on his feet than even thru-hikers. He did the run across
the U.S.in the early 90's and has run hundreds of ultras.

Fit is vital as is selecting the correct socks. Time on your feet with pack
weight close to what you will be carrying is also a key element. Many on
this list have given great advice that has been learned on the trail. Heed
them wisely.
