A buddy of mine aptly named "Lonechair" carried an aluminum beach chair the 
length of the AT in '97 weighing in at just over 2 pounds.  Although most 
wouldn't have carried the extra weight considering it needless, they were 
envious at the shelters, he look so comfortable!
