Speaking of New Balance etc., it's interesting to note that the March
Backpacker [their annual Gear Guide] doesn't list these or any running
shoes.  They do mention Go-Lite [packs and bags] and Trangia stoves, but
aren't very favorable towards either. Esbit stoves aren't mentioned at
all.  I've often suspected that  Backpacker's gear tests and
recommendations directly correlate with advertising revenue ... and that
they [as does our local REI] subscribe to the
big-and-expensive-is-better philosophy.  They should both read this
list!
