thinking about getting a resupply off of a horse and rider in '99. Not
only do I feel to strongly about all the animal s**t on the trail to do
it....but the cost was $200 plus a tip for the rider!!! <<

We also checked into a food drop for a JMT hike at the Bishop Pass
Junction
some years ago. It would have cost $350! Needless to say we chose to
hike on to VCR. Last summer we were on day 23 of our section hike,
hiking from Crabtree to Rock Creek, and found a big duffel that had
fallen off a pack string. We loaded it on one of our llamas and kept
hiking, laughing heartily about how much we should charge the packers
for hauling it back to their pack station! A sheepish young man on a
horse turned up a few hours later to collect it. We let him know he
might not have lost it if he didn't insist on using 19th century
technology to load his pack string!
