[pct-l] Body and/or mental changes
Women's bodies tend to be more efficient - I lost 5 lbs of ugly fat on the
trail (much to my dismay - I envied my husband's 30-lb loss!!!) but
naturally gained it back within a month of getting back to civilization.
Okay, I only hiked 1500 miles...
Re: mental changes - There's nothing like a distance hike to put "work" and
"career" into perspective. (this is probably b/c I'm not a parent. I hear
kids do the same thing.) Work is to earn money to pay for essentials that
must be paid for (for some of us, this means the mortgage & utitlities...)
while you're hiking, and to take care of the medical expenses in your old
age (from all the joint damage you incur...). Well, there's probably more
to it than that ;-) but the more I think about it, the more I prefer the
hiking part.
