[pct-l] bear canisters

I'm new to this list, so howdy y'all.
I couldn't help to pipe in on this subject. I always thought the idea with
bear canisters was to leave them out in the open away from camp and let the
bears figure out they can't get anything from them.

Thanks. Having never hiked in bear country I did believe that. So it
is recommended we bury (under rocks) the canister? I tend to wonder if
people actually keep it in their tent though. Doesn't sound too
unreasonable, does it? Any incidents where a bear tore apart a tent
for a food canister?
