[pct-l] Solo hiking

Like JoAnn,
I could never seem to find anyone to hike with and I was comfortable hiking
alone.
Then the fluke happens....I was crossing a rock slide and the very last step
to the trail
a small rock fell out wedging my foot and put me off balance. I could not
get the foot to release as I fell. so consequently I broke my leg. I was
just about 4 miles from water and where I planned to stay the night. (near
the devils slide down into Idlywild Section B. I laid on the trail for 3
days and had about 1/8 cup of water left (could not cook my food due to the
need to conserve my water) and ration it daily. 2 thru hikers found me and
alerted help.

Now I have stood at attention (have a son in mtn. rescue) and have promised
never to hike alone
again. Course my age makes my family a little jittery when I go. I have
plans for this summer but I have people now to hike with.
Cheers,
Marge (the old gal)
