[pct-l] More Cougar Attacks in the North
- Subject: [pct-l] More Cougar Attacks in the North

An Orting boy was attacked yesterday by a cougar in Orting, a small town
west of the PCT Crest. Cougar and Bear hunting was voted out by roughly five
years ago with dogs. Since then ,we have an explosion in cougar attacks with
more in the last 10 years than in the 90 years before. Pets are now
disappearing at an alarming rate in suburb towns near the Cascades. Three
years ago a small girl was attacked near the PCT south of White pass. If you
take your small children hiking here, stay close. While your chance of being
struck by lightning is still higher, sighting and encounters are becoming
common place. For more info , call the Washington Game Department.
