just a couple of thoughts...

New?  well, there's nothing especially new about it.  Radical?  The only 
thing radical about it is that, as far as I can tell, we were the only 
long-distance hikers averaging less than 15 miles a day on the trail this 
year.

That thought warms my li'l heart :)  The hot springs, especially, are worth 
visiting.

I'm sorry for that.  I heard quite a bit about you on the trail and would 
have liked to cross paths out there.  We wound up taking a bit of a swiss 
cheese route through Northern California, then all had to leave the trail 
for Burning Man.
