Hi Staggerin' Willie,
I read your post and wanted to pick your brain. What did you think were the
must-sees close to the trail in Oregon and Washington? I remember coming
across a couple of thru-hikers at Kennedy Hotsprings when we were in the
Glacier Peak Wilderness. Bypassing the chance to wallow in a hot-tub could
be seen by some as sinful...
I have read Ray Jardine and think he probably is completely right about
some of the things he said. But I would like to find out for myself. I
cannot imagine doing 30 miles a day, even on sneakers in the mountain-less
Netherlands. I want my breaks and I want to read and I want to write. I
also like my tent as it makes me feel cosy and at home and safe. I have
thought about a less sturdy, lighter backpack but I just have one that I
carry all around the world and buyin a new one would be silly. And on and
on.
As manifestos go, yours is pretty friendly. Thanks for your marvelous web
page, I enjoyed it so much!
Are you planning on hiking for such a period of time any time soon again?
Saskia
