[pct-l] Re: umbrellas



Hey tinker-gearheads, how about some kind of light covering that would attach to your pack and arc over your head as an awning--sorta like those shields that cover baby-carrying packs--keeping your hands free and your arms free of fatigue? A light flexible frame and some kind of canvas shouldn't be too hard. Any design ideas among you DOERS out there? (I've carried an umbrella backpacking, but most are either too light or good for shit in real wind, but it's great to have one, espcially for photography, not to mention avoiding overheating under raingear.)  jeffb
