Ah, that lure is what draws you north from Campo! You stand on the low hill
with your back to the fence and Mexico, facing north, you gaze down the well
beaten path as it disappears into the chaparral and you imagine its coarse
through the hills and mountains that stand to the north, green and inviting.
At the monument, you stand in awe of the path you have travelled, at all of
the places and views and people. Your mind stretches all of the way back to
Campo, around all of those bends. And they call to you to come back.
It calls to you to explore what lies around that bend, that rock, over that
pass, across that meadow . . . It IS the adventure. It calls me across 23
years.
