[pct-l] Re: LIGHT first aid book

<< "Wilderness Medical Society Practice Guidelines For
Wilderness Emergency Care" - long title; short, concise book.
Edited by Wm. W. Forgey, MD. Published by ICS Books, INC.

Very concise advice for many wilderness-type problems. Only 72 pages total,
and printed on recycled paper! Probably better geared for someone with
some prior First Aid training under their belt. >>

Great advise for any hiker, i.e., to take a bit of first aid training. The
American Red Cross has a one-half day general first aid course which I have
taken several times and can recommend. Their manual is excellent to keep in
your home, but more than you would want to carry.

You never know when you might find yourself in Justin and Katrina's (PCT '97)
situation, doing their best to save the life of a dayhiker who had a heart
attack. They did everything right; it just wasn't enough that day.
