RE: [pct-l] Feet verses Boots

Checking in from the trail, it was good to see I was nominated for such a
prestegious award. Of course I'd like to pass that one to anyone else.

Monty's right about big guy and shoes, but then again I'd get blisters in
just about anything I wear. So boots, light boots or sneakers doesn't
matter. Blisters still hurt the same.

Perhaps if I'd have spent as much time loosing weight as making gear, I'd
have had less problems. But I doubt it. I lost 50 pounds before a '97 hike
and wore lightwight boots and still got blisters.

Maybe I'd be ahead if I just cut off my feet.

Then again my feet have been much better lately only 2 blisters currently.
Mostly due to doing a major downhill into Agua Dulce on a hot day.

Still there are a number of thru-hikers here in Agua Dulce today including
Swiss Miss, JeffZ, etc. We all went into to town of a shopping trip at a
local outfitters. During the stay some 6 pair of new shoes (New Balance
803's) were purchased. Except for me. Though I did get a pair of new insoles
as mine are paper thin.

Now I'm expecting a new round of blisters as I've changed my shoe
configuration. Well at least the endorphins kick in after 10 minutes of
hiking.

We're all headed out for the desert on Monday so we'll see how all these new
shoes fair.
