[pct-l] Planning program

If Jim (or anyone) comes up with a more realistic elevation profile I can
figure out some way of working it into the PCT planning program. During
my '96 hike realized myself that the elevation gains/distances were not
exact, climbs suddenly popped out of nowhere, only to drop back down to
when the next datapoint was reached.

Until more accurate data comes along, there is not a lot I can do at this
point as far as making adjustments to the program. I think that the
points in the guidebook are good enough to give you a general overview of
what the upcoming trail is like. The program is only meant to give you a
rough estimate anyway. I entered in the data from my '96 hike and my
arrival dates were darn close if not exact. Several other people have
told me the same thing.

For now, I'm just glad that the guidebook
distances exist, even if they are not terribly accurate, they were a good
enough ballpark figure for me to plan my 1996 hike and have accurate
results.
