I'm looking for info on camping, hiking and trout fishing in northern BC and just over the border into the Yukon. Two friends and I are planning a 2-week trip (starting from Portland) in mid-September. We're experienced hikers (on and off trail) and will have one canoe and one kayak along.
Questions are:
- We're considering the Prince George/Dawson Creek hiway 97 then hiway 37 back to Prince George loop. Is it doable in 2 weeks, allowing for hiking / fishing side trips?
- Are there side-roads off the Alaska hiway so we could pull off out of sight of the road and safely leave the car for a day or 2?
- Any suggestions on areas to visit for great scenery & fishing?
- Particular areas/lakes/slow rivers that would be good for 3 paddlers?
- What kind of weather conditions can we expect in mid-September?
Thanks in advance,
Cam
