If you resupply at White Pass, thumb down to the town of Packwood just west
of the pass. They have a full PO for your drift box, pizza joint, laundry
mats, great super market, motels with hot tubs and the works. Purist is
someone who does not waiver from a marker route or trail. Supported hike in
my book meaning having your gear and food ferried ahead of you. If you say a
resupply at a Post Office is a supported hike, then no one has hike an "
unsupported " hike. We all resupply at a P.O. or a country store. No one
packs 5 months of food on this thing. Slack packing is hiking with just your
daily needs ( no sleeping bag , tent etc.) Whether you resupply with food
every 4 days or 2 weeks doesn't make you a purist or supported or a
slackpacker. No hiker has done the PCT as " Unsupported " . We all resupply.
Some use the Post Office or some use stores. I am not a slack
packer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
