[pct-l] stainless alloy All-Trac cleats

Has anyone out there heard of Atlas Snow Tracker and Atlas Mountain
Tracker?  I do not want to wait till ALL the snow fields are gone but do
not want to run into serious trouble like last year when I got myself
really goofed up trying to get around one.
They are from REI's Holidays '99 Gift catalog on page 75. Has anyone
used them? Do they do what they claim?..."strap on aluminum cleats add
extra traction to their shoes or boots when hiking on packed snow."

I would appreciate any and all feedback on the late season snow, so I'm
not waiting at home due to just that and nothing else. Yes, its true, I
have Spring Fever big and bad and am ready to section hike NOW.
