I researched crampons 2 years ago because I expected to cross frozen
snowfields that were not particularly steep. I talked to the proprietor of
Climb High in Vermont, a Grivel dealer. He said.
Instep crampons usually have 4 points in a square with sides at about 2".
Grivel grippers have 6 points on a rectangle about 2" by 6". He said that
they were MUCH better.
