**UPDATE 3.24.2000**
Last PCS meeting, Rick Booth, the Chair of the Sierra Club's PCS heard our motion in the
meeting but never intended to act on it as he adamantly refused to
allow a vote on it by publishing it in our newsletter. Thus he
effectively unfairly squashed it. I consider not bringing this
to the vote of the membership dictatorial and abusive of his office.
He was quite emotional about the issue for those of you that were there.
For those of you supporting this effort, these are some of the choices
now and I would like to ask what you would like to do:
1- Rick said quite rudely and arrongantly that if we did not like this
we could get five signatures and file a petition to vote him out of office.
I am inclined to do this as he said (email available) that he
supported our list motion and then reversed himself. He also said he does
not give a rats-ass (quote-unquote) about the Sierra Club and that
he would not be renewing his membership. I have mixed feelings about this
option. But if someone wanted to proceed I would support it.
2- We could request that the Chapter investigate the entire series
of incidents including the Section not following the Board resolution
since Sept 1999 that started this entire thing. This is lengthy and
problamatic.
3-Do nothing and not have a 2-way list.
4-Wait to the next administration.
5-Petition to remove the PCS PubCommChair. I feel a lot better
about this as the current Chair has overstayed his welcome
by 4 years!
If anyone else sees another option let me know please. If you
would like to sign the petition for Item #1 send me an email
please and I will mail you a copy to sign and send back to us.
Also- if anyone would like to discuss this please give me a call.
