[pct-l] So would you recommend the watch on the a Thru-hike?

In your opinion is a watch such as the Casio or the Suunto worth all the
learning curve to take out on the PCT.  What I guess I'm really asking that
in you assumation is the information you can get accurate enough to warrent
the expense or the possibility of trashing it on the trail?
Thinking it over..I'm still stinging over the digital camera I'm bringing.
