[pct-l] down or synthetic bags?

A friend is planning to hike the PCT this summer and is concerned about
whether to take a down or synthetic bag.  I swore to him that down is
the way to go, but he is still concerned about his down bag becoming wet and
losing its ability to maintain warmth.

What percentage of people on long distance hikes are carrying synthetic and
down bags??

my guess would be 80% down 20% synthetic.

Hey Brad.
    I would have to say that most thru-hikers prefer synthetic since they
are pretty much care free.  Even on the PCT moisture can accumulate so me
being a hot sleeper I prefer a very light syn bag.  Down costs too much  and
is high maintenance.
What do the PCT professionals think?
