The fog had gotten thick again.
But I rounded a corner and there were Castle Crags.
And then the clouds started to clear.
I passed some insect-eating plants at a boggy stream.
A freshly-manicured trail indicated the recent presence of a PCTA trail crew. Indeed I soon saw their pack train descending, and met the trail crew chief hiking out. They'd camped just off the trail in the forested saddle at 6000'. Over a week, they'd maintained all the trail I was hiking today.
As I descended into forested slopes, the grand scenery was replaced by closeups of many tricking streams, running later than usual due to the heavy winter.
At length I arrived at the Dog Trail back to the road.
