The lake looks serene in the photos, but the mosquitos were so bad I wore my headnet. At midnight, two young males arrived in a truck and proceeded to noisily set up their tent for the next two hours. Most of the ORV people left after one night due to the bugs.
Surprisingly, standing above the northeast corner of the lake, and not mentioned in the guidebook, is the Sierra Club's Ludlow Hut for cross-country skiing.
