Clair Tappaan Lodge, about a mile west of Donner Pass on old US 40, provides two meals, a bed and a hot tub for about $40. For non-through-hikers and late-season-hikers, it's an alternative to Pooh Corner.
Just below CTL are the snow tunnels formerly housing the transcontinental railroad... now pulled up and replaced by the double-track line in the left of the picture which tunnels under Sugar Bowl rather than Donner Pass.
