A short steep descent through drifted snow led to the Duck Lake outlet.
Afterwards there was just slush, and below 9600' the trail was mostly dry.
There were occasional expansive views southward to the Silver Divide.
After Deer Creek, a meadow/pumice flat at a crest drained both directions, and I followed it north to Upper Crater Meadow.
