To minimize our exposure to snow, we joined the tourist throngs. The classic Devils Postpile is hard to capture photographically on a dark day.
But the view from the glaciated top remains astonishing.
Cold, iron-rich soda springs bubbled up beside the river.
Rainbow Falls was amazing from several viewpoints.
After that, the Lower Falls seemed pedestrian.
Climbing back to the car, we studied the clouds clearing over Mammoth Mountain, wondering what tomorrow would bring.
