From the stream south of Death Canyon 722.6-9030 over Olancha Peak 718.9-10540 and down through Cow Creek Canyon 713.6-8260.

The highlight is the view from point 10600 just west of the trail. I was glad, seeing all the snow on the Great Western Divide, that the trail does not go there.

Cow Creek Canyon was not an attractive camp place, compared to the Kern beyond, and the best place to take its water was at its highest stream crossing around mile 715. There were countless signed and unsigned junctions of maintained and unmaintained hiker trails and stock driveways, a very confusing area.
