The point of this discussion (in this year)is that in addition to the normal almost universal ban on campfires in Southern Calif. there is also a ban on all stoves. Doesn't matter what we would like. Hot chocolate would be nice. It matters what we are allowed to do. 
So it's time to help the new hikers (and old)imagine how to accomplish making meals without cooking.
