Thank you for sharing this. I don’t believe I ever took the time to read
the story of the beginnings. I hiked the PCT 2015 and only by Gods grace
and the help of too many people to name, I had the pleasure of standing on
the border of Canada 5 months & 5 days later. As I was reading this, I was
reminded that my final day on the trail September 15th 2015, I met two
unnamed guys who had camped a few miles south of the border. They had just
walked to the terminus, had a toast to their good friend “Strider” and held
good to their promise to honor their amazing friend in the fashion that he
deserved. I was taken back with tears, but moreso with gratitude for
Strider & so many others who took time to care for all the hiker trash that
wore out numerous soles attempting to walk the glorious trail called the
Pacific Crest. I know that this was a journey that has changed my life in
more ways than I can count. Thank you all for allowing me the opportunity
to hike from Mexico to Canada. May you all know that you are appreciated
for your wisdom, guidance and support that you offered this mere mortal.
Godspeed and here’s to you “Strider” !
