[pct-l] SoCal Rain

 Sabrina,

There is no typical rain, in Southern California. Trust me! The "rainy" season starts in December and runs through May. Summer thunderstorms can also hit in the San Jacintos, San Gabriels and San Bernardinos. These can be very intense.

The spring storms can bring ice and snow to the high country and even what some people call the "desert" sections.

The Wilderness Press guide books have a very good overview of the weather patterns you'll encounter on the PCT, as well as conditions pertinent to each section. They are worth the investment, even if you won't use the maps and route descriptions.

Gary.
