[pct-l] Silk liner

I used the Montbell Downhugger II and they recommended a liner that was not
silk. The liner provided additional warmth, was easy to wash with
everything else, and I used it alone on some warm nights. It of course also
protected the bag from a thru-hiker. I would highly recommend it.

Subject: Re: [pct-l] Silk liner
I knew that wiggling in and out of a silk liner would be an issue that drove
me nuts, not to mention they are rather expensive, but I still wanted to see
if it was worth having one. I went to a local fabric store when they were
having a sale on silk, and got a very light weight piece for just under 10
dollars. (it weighs 3.4 oz). I'm small, so the width was enough that I
merely folded the material in half and only ran a seam along the bottom.
This means that it is more like a blanket instead of a tube, and when I get
back in the bag, I just have to put my feet in and push it back down to the
bottom of the bag if necessary. It actually does add a bit of warmth, but I
find I mostly use it as an extra with my summer bag. If it's colder than
that, I already have my extra layers on in the bag for warmth (which as
mentioned already, also does the job of keeping the bag cleaner).
