You're kinda incorrect. You smear Permethrin soaked cat litter on fabric.
If you do this correctly, you'll never notice the difference between pack
weight and clothing weight, but others will notice a couple of differences
immediately.

Once the clay hardens, even starving rabid predator animals should give you
a wide berth, making this form of the repellent amazingly repellent.
