Hi Myalo,
your email somehow ended up my my Junk folder. Permits for the Desolation Wilderness, the area just north of Echo Lakes along the PCT are available from the recreation.gov website. Bear proof containers are required. but are less restricted than Yosemite.

I cannot comment on the accessibility of the PCT from various points, perhaps the HalfMile maps or contacting Alpine Meadows directly will give you the answers.

I am a slow hiker 10-12 a day and would like to limit nights out to 3I have a few questions:- Do I need permits and if so where can I get them?- Are bear canister mandatory?- Is the PCT accessible by regular car at Bear Lake Road (one of the options to cut the hike to two)- Is the PCT accessible from Alpine Meadows ski area? do they have summer lifts to get to highest point which seems very close to the trail? Thanks Myalo
