Trail from Walkers to KM opens tomorrow night. 





The Chimney Fire was reported to the Bureau of Land Management at
approximately 3:30pm on June 1st in the area of Chimney Peak campground.
Fire Behavior remained minimal today with no threats to existing containment
lines. There is no projected fire spread during the night operational
period.





The structure threat to the Chimney Peak community has been mitigated and
there is no current threat to any structures.

The fire held at 1,826 acres, containment increased to 65% and is burning
primarily in the Chimney Peak and Owens Peak wilderness areas. Chimney
Peak/Canebrake Road is closed to all traffic. Nine Mile Rd is open only to
local residents and fire vehicles only, but is anticipated to open at 1800
(6pm) tomorrow evening.





Firefighters continued mop-up operations and direct line construction to
maintain and improve containment lines, while minimizing impacts to the
wilderness. Crews will begin to implement fireline suppression repair.





The Pacific Crest Trail will open at 1800 hours (6pm) tomorrow evening,
pending no further threat to containment lines.
